STEVE HYDEEN

Since middle school, I have been involved in acting, in some form or another.

It was the encouragement of my middle school speech teacher that set me on the course to becoming an actor. This journey eventually led me to Northwestern College, where I received a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre.

In 2004, I moved to Omaha to start an improv theatre company with 88improv. The goal of our improv troupe: present and teach improvised theatre with artistic integrity through smart, clean storytelling.

Since moving to Omaha, I have served as a judge and emcee for the Nebraska Thespian Festival on multiple occasions, served as an All-State critic, workshop instructor, and keynote speaker for the Iowa High School Speech Association, taught a variety of acting classes through the 402 Arts Collective, and developed an in-school improvisational acting curriculum to be used in collaboration with the great work drama teachers are already doing. Over the past 8 years the Improv Academy has supported hundreds of students at multiple Omaha Metro Schools.

With over 20 years of experience to support me, my passion for improvisation has led me to an even grander objective: to train up new actors, young and old, with the necessary skills to find success on stage, screen, and throughout life. My time thus far in teaching and encouraging students of all ages has shown me that the skills and values gleaned directly from acting are critical to success in all areas of life.

I am excited to use the art form of acting to teach others about finding redemption and hope in our relationships, communities, and vocations. If you are interested in acting or growing as an actor, I would love to help you grow!
